ZF 6 speed in my LR4 just gave up the ghost in the middle of Sharjah and I'm stranded at a petrol station
I was literally just trying to grab a karak and some petrol at the ADNOC on Al Dhaid Road before heading home to Al Nahda and when I went to put my 2011 LR4 into drive the shifter moved but nothing happened, just revs and no movement like it was in neutral, and then after about fifteen seconds of panic and trying different gears it clunked into reverse hard enough to chirp the tires and now I'm sitting here with my hazards on wondering if I should even attempt to limp it home or just call a recovery truck. This car has actually been pretty solid for me aside from the usual air suspension drama and the occasional electrical gremlin, but I've been ignoring a slight delay going into reverse for the last month because life is busy and I kept telling myself I'd get it looked at next week, and now next week has arrived in the worst possible way. I've heard that these ZF 6HP26 boxes can have issues with the mechatronic sleeve seal leaking and causing pressure loss, and sometimes it's just a fluid level problem, but I don't want to take it to just any garage that'll throw generic ATF in there and call it fixed when it might need a proper Land Rover Automatic Gearbox Repair Sharjah with the correct ZF Lifeguard 6 fluid and a full adaptation reset. Anyone out here ever had a similar complete loss of drive on an LR4 or a Sport and found it was something simple like a low fluid top up and a filter change rather than a full rebuild, or should I just prepare myself financially and emotionally for the worst while I wait for the flatbed to show up.
