Finding Chaser Zero in Forza Horizon 6 is one of those moments that really makes the Japan map feel alive. The giant mech is not available right away when you start the game, though. You need to progress through the campaign first before the location becomes accessible in free-roam.
Once unlocked, Chaser Zero becomes one of the coolest landmarks on the map and a popular stop for photo mode, cruising, and online meetups.
Unlocking Chaser Zero First
Before you can drive to the mech itself, you need to complete a specific Showcase Event tied to the main story progression.
The process is pretty simple:
1. Progress Through Horizon Japan
Keep advancing through the early campaign events until you earn the Green Wristband. This opens up more showcase activities and regions around the map.
If you are still in the opening hours of the game, just focus on races, drift events, and festival objectives until the next wristband unlock appears.
2. Complete the “Mech My Day” Showcase Event
This is the key requirement.
“Mech My Day” is a cinematic showcase race where you battle against the massive Chaser Zero mech while it stomps through highways and urban areas toward Tokyo. The event is heavily scripted and designed more like a spectacle than a normal race.
After finishing the showcase, Chaser Zero permanently appears in free-roam.
Best Route to Reach Chaser Zero
Once the event is complete, the easiest route starts from the Horizon Festival area in the Ohtani Region.
Starting Point
Open your map and fast travel to the main Horizon Festival site in Ohtani. If you do not want to fast travel, you can also drive there manually from nearby regions using the expressways.
The Route
From the festival grounds:
Exit toward the northern highway roads
Stay on the main multi-lane road instead of taking side streets
Continue driving north past the festival perimeter
Watch the skyline ahead carefully
After a short drive, you will spot the massive Chaser Zero mech standing in the open area near the highway network.
Because of its huge size, it is almost impossible to miss once you are close.
Why This Route Works Best
Some players try approaching through smaller mountain roads or city backstreets, but the highway route is much faster and gives the best visual reveal of the mech.
Driving in from the main road also avoids traffic-heavy intersections that can slow you down during online sessions.
If you want the most cinematic arrival, try driving there at night or during rainy weather. The reflections from the city lights and the scale of the mech make the area look incredible.
Chaser Zero as a Free-Roam Landmark
After unlocking it, Chaser Zero becomes a permanent landmark on the map.
The location is commonly used for:
Photo Mode challenges
Community cruises
Car meet screenshots
Drift convoys nearby
Photography accolades
A lot of players also use the surrounding highways for high-speed runs because the roads around the mech are wide and smooth.
Best Cars for the Route
The roads leading to Chaser Zero are mostly fast highways, so cars with strong acceleration and stability feel best here.
Good choices include:
Nissan GT-R
Toyota Supra
Honda NSX
Porsche 911 Turbo
Any tuned S1-class street build
If you prefer style over speed, classic JDM cars fit the atmosphere of the area perfectly.
